Professor Robert L. McCrory, a physicist and scientific leader who has shepherded the 蘑菇传媒鈥檚 Laboratory for Laser Energetics to international prominence during the past 35 years, will retire from the directorship on October 1.

Today, the Special Committee overseeing the independent investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation at the URochester announced a series of measures intended to confirm the rigor, fairness and transparency of the investigative process.

In recognition of a gift from University trustee Stephen Biggar 鈥�92 and his wife, Elisabeth Asaro-Biggar 鈥�92鈥攂oth former varsity soccer players鈥� the entryway to Genesee Hall and the Boehning Varsity House will be named the Big 鈥淩鈥� Atrium.

President and CEO Joel Seligman has outlined several steps the University will take to review the institution鈥檚 policies on sexual harassment and misconduct and to address claims of retaliation when complaints are made against the University. Seligman made the announcement on Tuesday, September 12, as part of a public Town Hall meeting attended by more than 500 students, faculty, and other members of the University community.

Among the nearly 3,000 people who died during the attacks on 9/11 were six Rochester alumni鈥攖hree who had just settled in to their offices in the World Trade Center; two who were flying aboard United Flight 93 when it crashed in rural Pennsylvania; and one who rushed to help survivors escaping the crumbling towers.

Upper-class students can now choose to live in a double room with someone of a different gender or gender expression. The new policy is aimed at fostering a residential experience that is welcoming and supportive of all gender identities.
