The Boehning Varsity House, named for former standout member of the men’s varsity soccer team Christopher Boehning ’87, ’88 (MS) and his wife, Julie, will occupy the field level of Genesee Hall, the University’s newest residence hall.

Effective August 15, 2017, all of the University’s campuses will be tobacco-free both inside and outside campus buildings. The University will now join 1,468 college and university campuses nationwide that are tobacco-free.

Meliora Weekend kicks off on Thursday, October 12, and continues through Sunday, October 15. Roberts will deliver her address from the Louis A. Alexander Palestra on the River Campus on Saturday, October 14.

The Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ will recognize the outstanding contributions of distinguished leaders, scholars, and humanitarians by bestowing 2017 honorary degrees, medals, and awards for scholarship and teaching.

The event is hosted by the community engagement committee of the Students’ Association Government. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. in Hoyt Auditorium, and the town hall will run from noon to 2:30.

Two Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ start-up companies are among those singled out in a new report from the Science Coalition identifying 102 companies that trace their roots to federally-funded university research.

Dedicated during Meliora Weekend last fall, Wegmans Hall will open for researchers this year and will become the home to the Goergen Institute for Data Science.

Many members of the University community are expected to take part in the March for Science on Saturday, April 22, in Washington, D.C., or in the Rochester-based march planned for the same day.

Andrea Clarke of the Center for Community Health is among the several outstanding staff members honored this year for their significant and longstanding contributions to the University and to the Rochester community.
