Reuse Programs

In need of office furniture or clothing for a job interview? Have items you’d like to repurpose rather than send to the landfill? Explore the University’s various reuse programs.

Surplus Property Program

This surplus property program is open to all University community members. Items are donated from different areas of the University and are then available for purchase. Pick up items for free at an off-site warehouse or have them delivered for a $90 charge.

Items are stored at the URochester receiving facility located at 107 Norris Dr. (enter via Nursery St.). The warehouse is open every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Contact the Customer Service Center at 585-273-4567 to schedule a pick-up of items you’d like to donate. For questions about the program, email Chris Krenzer from Medical Center Facilities Operations at ckrenzer@facilities.rochester.edu.

School of Arts & Sciences and the Hajim School

Employees in these units who are interested in repurposing or searching for repurposed furniture can submit a . For questions or for repurposing other items, email Nicholas Ernst-Maynard at nicholas.maynard@rochester.edu.

Name plates

Mail used and unneeded name plates to the URMC Sign Shop, Box 623. They will be repurposed for new name plates. Note that only name plates that have not been engraved can be accepted.

Shoes

The Ä¢¹½´«Ã½’s shoe reuse and recycling program is designed to bring usable shoes first and foremost to those in need.

Donation bins can be found in the main locker rooms of the Goergen Athletic Center. All types of shoes are accepted.

Each batch of collected shoes is provided to , a nonprofit providing services to those who are economically disadvantaged and/or unhoused in the local Rochester community. Once Hope Dealers receives what they need, the remaining shoes are donated to , a Western NY-based organization who will distribute the remaining reusable shoes to those in need and send those unsuitable for reuse to recycling.
