Chicago native Vic Mensa is an independent rap artist who recently began a solo career after the breakup of his rap-rock band Kids These Days. Asher Roth is best known for his hit single 鈥淚 Love College鈥�, which reached number 12 on the US Billboard Music Charts.

Comedians Ron Funches, Nick Vatterott, and Michael Ian Black will perform this weekend for students and the Rochester community as part of Yellowjacket Weekend, which celebrates the start of the academic year.

The incoming Class of 2018 fanned out into the surrounding neighborhoods of Rochester during the 26th annual Wilson Day of community service.

The 蘑菇传媒鈥檚 incoming freshmen class arrives, with about 1,300 students moving into five residential halls on the River Campus and the downtown Eastman School of Music. Welcome to Rochester, Class of 2018!

The incoming freshmen class will discover what Rochester has to offer and explore the many ways to get involved in their surrounding neighborhood during the 26th annual Wilson Day on Thursday, Aug. 28. Over 1,350 students will garden, paint, meet with senior citizens, help organize school supplies, and learn more about their new community.

More than 1,300 freshmen from more than 75 countries will move in to the River Campus and Eastman School of Music beginning Monday, Aug. 25. Move-in Day is an event featuring a cappella singing groups, the University Pep Band, and other student groups entertaining and welcoming the new class to their new home in Rochester.

The University's dining services has been ranked 6th on the 2014 list of 75 Best Colleges for Food by the online publication The Daily Meal. In addition to the quality of the food, the rankings were determined by the 鈥渇ood scene of the surrounding area,鈥� as well as nutrition, sustainability, accessibility, events, uniqueness, and "the overall quality of the dining experience."

Mayor Lovely Warren will recognize the Urban Fellows for their work in a variety of service projects, from marketing health programs and planning events for youth to fostering community and connecting businesses with vacant storefronts.

A closing ceremony for five Rochester Youth Year Fellows and 17 Rochester Urban Fellows is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, in City Hall. The Fellows鈥�22 undergraduates and recent college graduates from Rochester-area colleges鈥攈ave spent from 10 weeks up to a year engaging in service projects and learning about urban issues in and around Rochester.

The first Rochester graduate to earn this scholarship, Jordan Shapiro '14 will use the grant to pursue a master鈥檚 degree at Aberystwyth University in Wales.

150 high school students from across the country are gathered in Rochester this week for the National Hispanic Institute鈥檚 Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session (LDZ). Students will debate policies related to education, social inequality, and economics, among other topics.

This summer, six 蘑菇传媒 students will travel abroad through two nationally competitive scholarships, the Critical Language Scholarship and the DAAD-RISE Scholarship program. This year's scholarship recipients will study at universities in Russia and Germany.
