Green, Esq. has been named associate vice president for Civil Rights Compliance and Title IX Coordinator. Julia joins the University from Harter Secrest &amp; Emery LLP, where she was a partner.\u00a0 During her 17 years there, Julia first worked on an array of litigation matters, and, over the last ten years, focused her practice on advising higher education institutions on understanding, designing, and implementing processes to address allegations of Title IX sex discrimination and other protected status discrimination.\u00a0 Julia also conducted Title IX investigations and served as a Title IX adjudicator, both as a panel member and as a solo decision-maker.<\/p>\n<p>Green arrives ahead of new Title IX regulations expected for release in October 2023. In addition, the number of Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment (PADH) cases is on the rise, which is attributed to an increased awareness of the policy and how to file a report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted Julia has joined the team,\u201d says Adrienne Morgan, Ph.D., Vice President in theUniversity Office of Engagement &amp; Enrichment at the URochester. \u201cHer depth and breadth of experience are major assets to the University and we look forward to her leadership at this critical time in the office\u2019s history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Green\u2019s initial goals are to increase transparency in and awareness of the processes her office oversees and to evaluate how these processes can become more efficient without sacrificing the thoroughness, fairness, and compliance required.<\/p>\n<p>Green says, \u201cHaving advised institutions in this space for many years I am elated to join the University in this hands-on role.\u00a0 I look forward to working with my team to create and maintain an inclusive environment with response protocols and processes that uphold and foster the University\u2019s community standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Green graduated from Wellesley College prior to earning her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law.
