{"id":11702,"date":"2019-08-29T19:33:39","date_gmt":"2019-08-29T19:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/provost\/?p=11702"},"modified":"2021-10-14T17:20:19","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T17:20:19","slug":"employee-location-data-set","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/provost\/employee-location-data-set\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee Location Data Set"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The university needs to be able to clearly identify and\ndescribe location data about employees to support day to day operations.\nEmployee location refers to information about an employee that can help us\ndetermine: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Primary\nwork Location:<\/strong> Where to go to visit an employee.<\/li><li><strong>Primary\ninterdepartmental mailing address<\/strong>: Where to send paper mail to an employee.<\/li><li><strong>Primary work\ndelivery address:<\/strong> Where to send packages to an employee. <\/li><li><strong>Primary\nwork phone number:<\/strong> How to reach an employee by phone.<\/li><li><strong>Primary\nwork email:<\/strong> How to reach an employee by email.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Employee location information is often used to: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To plan for and locate employees during\nemergency situations <\/li><li>To ensure compliance with safety regulations <\/li><li>To Locate employees for package and mail\ndelivery <\/li><li>To plan for and facilitate important meetings <\/li><li>By the university community to contact\nuniversity resources<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The data governance team is currently engaged in identifying a strategy to improve the way we capture and maintain employee location data. To promote data integrity and consistency, this strategy will leverage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/provost\/standardized-building-data\/\"><strong>Standardized Building Data<\/strong><\/a> model to provide physical location data attached to an employee. We are currently working with multiple stakeholders to identify a solution that aligns with university policies and best practices.
