The FY 2016 House Energy and Water Development Appropriations bill approved by the House Appropriations Committee this week\u00a0includes $68 million for the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, the same level as FY15, but $7.5 million above President Barack Obama’s request. The bill is expected to go to the floor as early as next week.<\/p>\n
The bill also includes $5.1 billion for the Office of Science, a $29 million (0.6 percent) increase over\u00a0last year’s spending levels, and level or slightly increased funding for research in basic energy science, fusion, high energy physics, nuclear energy, and\u00a0Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPAA-E).<\/p>\n
