The Gray Award, presented by the state politics and policy section of the American Political Science Association, recognizes the best book on state politics in the last three years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/college\/psc\/people\/faculty\/index.php?fid=1\">Gerald Gamm<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/college\/psc\/people\/faculty\/index.php?fid=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-64772\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ggamm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a> with coauthor Thad Kousser of UC San Diego will\u00a0receive the 2014 Best Paper Award presented by the state politics and policy section of the American Political Science Association. The award is for their paper &#8220;Contingent Partisanship: When Party Labels Matter&#8211;and When They Don&#8217;t&#8211;in the Distribution of Pork in American State Legislatures.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/gpowell.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-64782\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/gpowell.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/college\/psc\/people\/faculty\/index.php?fid=4\">G. Bingham Powell, Jr.<\/a>, will receive the 2014 Leon Weaver Award for his paper &#8220;Party System Polarization and the Ideological Congruence Mechanism.\u201d The award, sponsored by the APSA section on representation and electoral systems, honors the best paper in the subfield presented at the previous year\u2019s meeting of the American Political Science Association.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/hein.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-64792\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/hein.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/college\/psc\/people\/faculty\/index.php?fid=14\">Hein Goemans<\/a> along with Kristian Skrede Gleditsch of the University of Essex and Giacomo Chiozza of Vanderbilt University will receive the 2014 Lijphart\/Przeworski\/Verba Dataset Award, sponsored by the APSA section on comparative politics, for the dataset\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/college\/faculty\/hgoemans\/data.htm\">Archigos<\/a>.
