WHAT:<\/strong> In an effort to introduce more students to the growing field of optics and optical engineering, the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½\u2019s Institute of Optics is holding, for the second year, a free one week camp for rising high school juniors and seniors to learn the relevance of optics to everyday life.<\/p>\n

\"PhotonDuring their week at Photon Camp, 18 students from several local high schools and the Bergen Academy in New Jersey will attend lectures in the mornings, and get some hands on experience in the laboratory during the afternoons. Students will also have a chance to tour local company Optimax and the University\u2019s Laboratory for Laser Energetics and the Robert E. Hopkins Center for Optical Design & Engineering.<\/p>\n

Students will also work on capstone projects with topics ranging from solar energy to digital imaging, under the guidance of an undergraduate student in optics. At the end of the week, these projects will be judged by the faculty of the Institute of Optics in a poster session open to the public and the media.\u00a0 More information can be found in the camp brochure<\/a>.<\/p>\n
