{"id":515842,"date":"2022-03-18T16:08:37","date_gmt":"2022-03-18T20:08:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/?p=515842"},"modified":"2025-11-19T15:44:32","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T20:44:32","slug":"medical-match-day-celebration-2022-515842","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/newscenter\/medical-match-day-celebration-2022-515842\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical \u2018Match Day\u2019 celebration returns in person"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There was a lot to be joyous about at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/\">Ä¢¹½´«Ã½<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urmc.rochester.edu\/smd.aspx\">School of Medicine and Dentistry<\/a> on Friday: For the first time since 2019, fourth-year medical students were able to gather in person to receive and celebrate the news of where they will begin their careers as physicians.<\/p>\n<p>Match Day is the day every March when soon-to-be-graduating medical students around the United States get the results of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrmp.org\/\">National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)<\/a>, which matches the preference of students with those of residency programs.<\/p>\n<p>After two years of virtual Match Day festivities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students once again opened their sealed envelopes together in the Class of 1962 Auditorium.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read more about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urmc.rochester.edu\/news\/story\/making-a-match-rochester-medical-students-gather-together-to-mark-next-step-in-training\">Match Day 2022<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<style>.embed-container { position: relative;
