Since the devastating terrorist assaults in Paris on Friday, the University\u2019s Global Engagement Office has confirmed the safety of the faculty, staff and students who are known to have been staying or traveling in the region of the attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n

We know that there are several individuals on our Rochester campuses, as well as our alumni, who are dealing with tremendous sorrow after learning that their friends or loved ones were lost in Friday\u2019s terrorist attack or other recent international tragedies. The University is working to connect these individuals, as well as those with ties to France or those who are just deeply affected by the events, with the support to help cope and heal. University community members may receive assistance from the following services: University Counseling Center, (585) 275-3113; Employee Assistance Program, (585) 475-0432; Interfaith Chapel, (585) 275-4321.<\/span><\/p>\n

This weekend, the University community joined together to express solidarity with the people of Paris, Beirut and Baghdad through a student-led \u201cSouls United\u201d candlelight vigil.\u00a0 The University will continue to show its support for those affected.\u00a0<\/span>Flags at the University will be flown at half-staff today to honor the memory of those lost in the Paris attacks, and will remain lowered through sunset on Thursday, Nov. 19. <\/span><\/p>\n

Anyone planning to travel internationally is encouraged to register their plans with the Global Engagement Office so that the University may reach individuals in times of concern and crisis abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n
