WHAT:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Brass Choir will present \u201cGoing Nuts! A Halloween Spooktacular,\u201d <\/em>an evening of rock, metal, and popular music re-purposed for brass instruments. The show, directed by Josef Hanson, will feature Rochester community musicians in a supersized low brass ensemble and a special guest vocal performance by Andrew Polec who graduated from the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ in 2012 and is a former member of the a cappella group, the Midnight Ramblers, with his rendition of \u201cThe Stroke\u201d by Billy Squier and \u201cBig Balls\u201d by AC\/DC. The concert will feature a variety of classic songs, including \u201cThriller\u201d by Michael Jackson; \u201cBYOB\u201d by System of a Down; \u201cWar Pigs\u201d by Black Sabbath; and \u201cBig Bottom\u201d by Spinal Tap. \u201cIt\u2019s taking old traditions and creating something cutting edge \u2013 creating a performance that pushes the bounds of what\u2019s possible,\u201d Polec says.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/em> Costumes are optional, but encouraged. This performance is not appropriate for young children.<\/em><\/p>\n

TIME, DATE, PLACE:<\/strong>\u00a0 8 p.m. Friday, Oct 30, in Strong Auditorium on the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½\u2019s River Campus. The concert is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE BRASS CHOIR:<\/strong> The Rochester Brass Choir is a 40-member ensemble, founded by Josef Hanson, is made up of undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni. The ensemble has performed in a variety of venues, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The ensemble is dedicated to crafting music performances that are a bit out of the ordinary\u2014from Renaissance music and fanfares to heavy metal.<\/p>\n

PARKING:<\/strong> Visitors to the River Campus can park for free in most parking lots after 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
