Additionally, five current students and 11 recent alumni were given honorable mentions by the NSF.<\/p>\n<p>The fellowship, which is part of a federally sponsored program, provides up to three years of graduate study support for students pursing doctoral or research-based master\u2019s degrees. Since the program\u2019s inception in 1952, NSF has provided fellowships to individuals selected early in their graduate careers based on their demonstrated potential for significant achievements in science and engineering. Of the more than 16,500 applicants this year, only 2,000 were awarded fellowships. The fellowship includes a three-year annual stipend of $34,000, a $12,000 educational allowance to the institution, and international research and professional development opportunities for recipients.<\/p>\n<p>The following graduate students received fellowships:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Greenwood, Emily Joy; psychology, who earned her bachelor\u2019s degree at the University of Chicago<\/li>\n<li>Johnson, Keywan Alexander; chemistry, who earned his bachelor\u2019s degree at the University of Delaware<\/li>\n<li>Ranken, Evan Altair; physics, who earned his bachelor\u2019s degree at Colorado College<\/li>\n<li>Woodruff, Tessa M; chemistry, who earned her bachelor\u2019s degree at Miami University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following graduating senior received honorable
