JACK FASSETT<\/strong><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”3\/4″][vc_column_text]\u201cShe was a true and loyal partner for 67 years of marriage,\u201d said Jack Fassett \u201948 about his late wife, Betty. \u201cShe was dedicated to taking care of others, including serving as an army nurse in World War II, which was the defining experience of her life. To provide her with income in her later years, while also making a gift to Rochester\u2019s School of Nursing, I established a deferred payment charitable gift annuity. Starting when Betty turned 86, it provided her income for the rest of her life, and ultimately created an endowed scholarship to support students in the accelerated nursing program.<\/p>\n
It was a good investment\u2014the income offered some reassurance to Betty, and the fund has nearly tripled in the University\u2019s endowment. Now the scholarship will live on in her name as a testament to her love of nursing and my love for her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jack and his family commemorated Betty\u2019s life at a special service at Arlington National Cemetery on June 18, 2014.
