Guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Guidelines<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>All submissions must be original works, with all sources properly cited.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Research Articles <\/strong>contain original work or analysis that brings something new to the field.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Review Articles<\/strong> evaluate and describe work already done in the field.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Senior Theses <\/strong>can be submitted as is, with no major formatting differences expected, <strong>other than the need for both inline and high-resolution figures in the submission.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>All submissions must be submitted with a <strong>Cover Page, Manuscript,<\/strong> and <strong>Figures<\/strong> including their raw files.\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1jYv2DGJQ8qgwZgrbnm6m_rkn17xRwGHQ?usp=sharing\">Templates<\/a> <\/strong>for the Cover Page, Manuscript with inline figures, and attached figure powerpoint can be found here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Formatting:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Figures<\/strong> must inserted <strong>in the manuscript<\/strong> alongside their caption, in a position similar to how they are intended to be viewed in the published issue.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Section Headings<\/strong> should be in the same font and size as the text.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Citations can be in the author\u2019s preferred format<\/strong>, however, all in-text citations must correspond to end of text citations in a separate references section at the end of the manuscript.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cover Page<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A Full Cover Page should include:\n<ul>\n<li>The title of the article <strong>(less than 25 words)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Name of first author <strong>(The author which contributed most to the paper)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Graduation year of first author<\/li>\n<li>Names of secondary authors (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Name of mentor \/ principal investigator<\/li>\n<li>Academic discipline of submission (Disciplines can include, but are not limited to, those listed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/college\/academics\/departments.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Word count <strong>(including all text, except for footnotes and references)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Acknowledgement of collaborators and funding sources<\/li>\n<li>Suggested Professor Reviewers (2 minimum from Ä¢¹½´«Ã½\/URMC Faculty)\n<ul>\n<li>Please select reviewers within the general field\/subject area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Abstract or summary of work <strong>(less than 250 words)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manuscript<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>For all submissions<\/strong>, the text must be understandable to the undergraduate audience, while presenting interesting and compelling findings.<\/li>\n<li>The manuscript for a <strong>Research Article submission<\/strong> generally should (just suggestions) include the following sections:\n<ul>\n<li>If in the <strong>Natural Sciences,<\/strong> an Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion.<\/li>\n<li>If in the <strong>Humanities<\/strong>, an Abstract and Body text with relevant section headings.<\/li>\n<li>If in <strong>Social Sciences<\/strong>, either section formatting is appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The manuscript for a <strong>Review Article\u00a0<\/strong>can include an Abstract, the Body text, and references.\n<ul>\n<li>Review Articles must present a thorough investigation of the field, with focus on a particularly compelling and important aspect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Figures<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>All <strong>Figures<\/strong> should be uploaded in:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Your manuscript<\/strong>, inline with the text, in a location near their reference in the text.<\/li>\n<li>Separate powerpoint or image file(s) with high quality versions (300+ dpi) of the figures included in the manuscript.<\/li>\n<li>Any raw data files associated with the creation of the figures.\n<ul>\n<li>For Graphs and Charts: <strong>Submit an addition data file<\/strong>, which was used to produce the Graph\/Chart.\n<ul>\n<li>For Tables: <strong>Submit an additional excel file of the table<\/strong>, as shown in the Figure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Figures must be produced by the authors of the work, or appropriately cited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Copyright Agreement<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Journal of Undergraduate Research<\/em> does not require authors to assign the copyright of their published work in the journal. All articles will be published under a <a href=\"http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by\/4.0\/\">CC BY license<\/a> (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License). The CC BY license allows for the distribution and reuse of materials with proper attribution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The purpose of <span style=\"font-size: large;\"><em>JUR<\/em><\/span> is to encourage undergraduate research pursuits and not to hinder the author\u2019s ability to publish their work in other relevant journals.
