Our Young Alumni Councils (YACs) are committed groups of young alumni leaders focused on building and maintaining connections with graduates from the past decade in their cities, ensuring they stay engaged and actively involved with the URochester. The YACs organize events specifically for our newest undergraduate alumni, promote pride and support for the URochester, and advise the Office of Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement on communications and programs tailored to our young alumni community.
Structure
Each YAC consists of undergraduate alumni from the ten most recently graduated classes living in that city. Members serve a two-year term, with the possibility of renewal. One member from each council is selected to serve as the regional chair, which is also a two-year commitment that may be extended.
Member responsibilities and expectations
- Assist with the planning, peer-to-peer marketing, and execution of YAC-organized events and activities (typically four events โ one per quarter โ are planned per year).
- Participate in virtual and/or in-person planning meetings.
- Assist in the identification and recruitment of new volunteers and encourage participation in University programming and philanthropy.
- Support the University annually by making a gift of any amount to any area of the University or its Medical Center.
- Represent the Young Alumni Council, the Office of Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement, and the University on campus or in your respective community.
