The <a href=\"https:\/\/literarytranslators.wordpress.com\/\">National Translation Award Longlists<\/a> were announced today, and of the twelve titles that made the <a href=\"https:\/\/literarytranslators.wordpress.com\/2015\/07\/15\/2015-national-translation-award-longlist-in-prose\/\">prose longlist,<\/a> Open Letter published <em>four<\/em> of them! Hot damn! <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.openletterbooks.org\/products\/street-of-thieves\"><em>Street of Thieves<\/em><\/a> by Mathias \u00c9nard, translated from the French by Charlotte Mandell;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.openletterbooks.org\/products\/why-i-killed-my-best-friend\"><em>Why I Killed My Best Friend<\/em><\/a> by Amanda Michalopoulou, translated from the Greek by Karen Emmerich;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.openletterbooks.org\/products\/this-is-the-garden\"><em>This Is the Garden<\/em><\/a> by Giulio Mozzi, translated from the Italian by Elizabeth Harris; and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.openletterbooks.org\/products\/la-grande\"><em>La Grande<\/em><\/a> by Juan Jos\u00e9 Saer, translated from the Spanish by Steve Dolph, all made the longlist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They&#8217;re up against some tough competition though, which includes: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndbooks.com\/book\/conversations\/\"><em>Conversations<\/em><\/a> by Cesar Aira, translated from the Spanish by Katherine Silver;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/utpress.utexas.edu\/index.php\/books\/alknep\"><em>New Waw, Saharan Oasis<\/em><\/a> by Ibrahim al-Koni, translated from the Arabic by William M.
