All the breathtaking details follow below.<\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\nReading the World Conversation Series<br \/>\nPiotr Sommer &amp; Bill Martin:<br \/>\nPolish Poetry and Translation<br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"caps\">APRIL<\/span> 13, 2011<br \/>\nWednesday, 7:30 p.m<br \/>\nSloan Auditorium, Goergen Hall<br \/>\nÄ¢¹½´«Ã½<br \/>\n<em>(Presented with the Skalny Center.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Free and open to the public)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>What translates and what doesn\u2019t in contemporary poetry? What are mutual inspirations of Polish and Anglo-American poetry today? This event will feature a poetry reading by Piotr Sommer, followed by a conversation between Piotr Sommer and Bill Martin.<\/p>\n<p>Piotr Sommer, preeminent Polish poet and Visiting Professor at the Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies, has published several dozen books, including poetry, literary criticism, and anthologies. He is also a well-known translator of contemporary English-language poets and is the editor of Literatura na \u015awiecie (World Literature), a Warsaw-based magazine of international writing.<\/p>\n<p>Bill Martin, former Literary Program Manager at the Polish Cultural Institute, was responsible for the \u201cPolish Literature\u201d issue of the Chicago Review, which marked the first English publication for dozens of Polish writers.
