  {"id":263466,"date":"2008-07-16T19:01:30","date_gmt":"2008-07-16T19:01:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wdev.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent-dev\/2008\/07\/16\/early-reviews-of-dubravka-ugresic-and-her-tour\/"},"modified":"2018-04-16T17:30:00","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T17:30:00","slug":"early-reviews-of-dubravka-ugresic-and-her-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/2008\/07\/16\/early-reviews-of-dubravka-ugresic-and-her-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Early Reviews of Dubravka Ugresic and Her Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of the early reviews for Dubravka Ugresic&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.openletterbooks.org\/authors\/1\" style=\"text-align:left;\">i&gt;Nobody&#8217;s Home<\/i><\/a> came out recently, with <i>Library Journal<\/i> stating that she &#8220;leaves no stone unturned and no thought contained, doing what she does best: writing about the human condition through her own experience&#8221; and <i>Kirkus<\/i> calling this collection of essays &#8220;taut, timely pieces by a writer who sees the cosmic in the quotidian.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Both E.J. and I love Dubravka&#8217;s work (and both edited her in the past&#8212;E.J. did <i>The Ministry of Pain<\/i> at Ecco, and I did <i>Thank You for Not Reading<\/i> at Dalkey Archive. One of her greatest books is <i>The Museum of Unconditional Surrender,<\/i> which is available from New Directions) and feel fortunate that this will be our first Open Letter publication. (The book doesn&#8217;t officially release until September 26th, but we will be offering an advance special deal via this blog as soon as these arrive from the printer.)<\/p>\n<p><i>Nobody&#8217;s Home<\/i> is a great collection, and to celebrate it, we&#8217;ve put together a bit of a reading tour for Dubravka.
