VV<\/i>‘s Best of 2007 list<\/a> is actually really intriguing . . . (Sorry Ed!)<\/p>\nSimilar to the one from The Guardian<\/i>—and unlike the anonymous Top 100 list of the New York Times<\/i>—this is a list of 20 books recommended by 20 different Voice<\/i> writers.<\/p>\n
And on the whole, it’s pretty impressive. There as some “to be expected” titles, like Junot Diaz’s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao<\/i>, Michael Chabon’s The Yiddish Policemen’s Union<\/i>, and Miranda July’s No One Belongs Here More Than You<\/i>, but also included are Eliot Weinberger’s An Elemental Thing<\/i> and Lydia Davis’s Varieties of Disturbance<\/i>. <\/p>\n
The big winner is NYRB<\/span> though, with All Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ H. HAtterr<\/i> by G. V.
