{"id":255726,"date":"2007-09-10T17:36:38","date_gmt":"2007-09-10T17:36:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wdev.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent-dev\/2007\/09\/10\/reykjavik-international-literature-festival-2007\/"},"modified":"2018-04-16T17:36:28","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T17:36:28","slug":"reykjavik-international-literature-festival-2007","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/2007\/09\/10\/reykjavik-international-literature-festival-2007\/","title":{"rendered":"Reykjav\u00edk International Literature Festival 2007"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Reykjavik Lit Festival runs from September 9th through the 15th, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bokmenntahatid.is\/Apps\/WebObjects\/Bokmenntahatid.woa\/wa\/dp?id=1000046\">full schedule<\/a> of events is available online. <\/p>\n<p>As pointed out in this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icelandreview.com\/icelandreview\/daily_news\/?cat_id=16539&#38;ew_0_a_id=288997\">overview<\/a>, the &#8220;biggest&#8221; international name is Coetzee, but personally I&#8217;d love to see the events with Bragi Olafsson (Open Letter will be publishing his novel <i>The Pets<\/i> on our first list), Einar Mar Gu\u00f0mundsson, and Gu\u00f0bergur Bergsson.<\/p>\n<p>The festival concludes with a seminar in English translations, which looks incredibly interesting, and includes presentations by J\u00f3n Karl Helgason on perspectives on contemporary Icelandic literature and publishing, and Gu\u00f0bergur Bergsson on the psychology of the translation.<\/p>\n<p>Too bad Hugleikur Dagsson isn&#8217;t included this year . . . His <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harpercollins.com\/books\/9780061284892\/Should_You_Be_Laughing_at_This\/index.aspx\"><i>Should You Be Laughing at This?<\/i><\/a> is one of the funniest, and most offensive, comic books I&#8217;ve ever read.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Reykjavik Lit Festival runs from September 9th through the 15th, and the full schedule of events is available online.
