The <a href=\"http:\/\/nytimesbooks.blogspot.com\/\">Book Design Review<\/a> brings note to <a href=\"http:\/\/nytimesbooks.blogspot.com\/2007\/08\/one-red-paperclip-or-how-ordinary-man.html\">this<\/a> cover. Unfortunately, the book itself is not notable, but we&#8217;re a fan of this movement (seemingly, an all-in wet dream by the designer and a gutsy marketing move, to boot) that one can imagine must have a dickens of a time making it through the cover-by-committee processes.<\/p>\n<p>Really, I don&#8217;t know if this qualifies as a &#8220;trend&#8221; or just a random occurrence. The other time I&#8217;ve seen this (and, perhaps, the best occurrence to date) is on Ecco&#8217;s supper sexy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harpercollins.com\/books\/9780060783907\/The_Collected_Poems\/index.aspx\"><em>Collected Poems: 1956-1998<\/em><\/a> by Zbigniew Herbert (also, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.readingtheworld.org\/ecco.html\">Reading the World: 2007<\/a> selection, by the way).
