I cherish your opinion about Nonnos and I share it.
I have pending in the printing house an edition of Lycophron’s Alexandra and I am working on an other, also neglected, gem of litterature, Quintus Smyrnaeus Posthomerica, with Tryphiodorus Fall of Ilion (Ἰλίου Πέρσις) if coronavirus would not take me away. Dionysiaca took a very long time to be written with o Nonnos under several circumstances; so it could not be scrutynized as a whole. The same must be applied to Homer too, although Homer underwent many corrections since antiquity. And he is not perfect yet, as a narrative I mean. Dionysiaca is not a just pearl but a chain of gems, sometimes golden, sometimes of a ley metal.
